Download Physics-9 Smart Syllabus (ALP) & Model Paper (2025-26)
Physics is a conceptual subject that combines theory with mathematical problems. For the 2026 session, the Punjab Textbook Board has updated the paper pattern to include more Conceptual Questions (SLOs). This means simple definitions won't be enough; you need to understand the "Why" and "How" behind the laws of physics.
At EDUBoost, we provide the official Smart Syllabus (ALP) which specifies exactly which numericals and side-boxes are included in the exam.
Pairing Scheme 2026: Theory vs. Numericals
This is the most important part of your preparation. In the Long Questions (Q5, Q6, Q7), one part is Theory and one is Numerical. Here is the expected trend:
- Question 5: Chapter 2 (Theory/Num) + Chapter 3 (Theory/Num).
- Question 6: Chapter 4 (Theory) + Chapter 6 (Numerical). (High chance of Numerical from Ch 6).
- Question 7: Chapter 7 (Theory) + Chapter 8 (Numerical).
Note: Always prepare numericals of Chapter 2, 3, 6, and 8 thoroughly.
Physics Paper Pattern & Marks Distribution
The total marks for the theory paper are 60. The remaining 15 marks are for the Practical exam (conducted in 10th class).
| Section | Details | Marks |
|---|---|---|
| Q1 (MCQs) | 12 Questions (From Exercise & Chapters) | 12 |
| Short Qs | 3 Parts (Attempt 5/8 in each) | 30 |
| Long Qs | Attempt 2 out of 3 (Part A & B) | 18 |
Teacher's Tip: Don't Forget Units!
In Physics numericals, the answer is incomplete without the S.I. Unit. If you calculate Force = 50 but forget to write 'N' (Newtons), you will lose 1 mark. Always double-check your units at the end.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Yes. The conceptual questions in Q2, Q3, and Q4 often come from the side boxes (e.g., "Do you know?" or "Quick Quiz").
The safest pair is usually Chapter 2 & 3 (Kinematics & Dynamics) and Chapter 4 & 6. Chapter 7 & 8 are conceptual and slightly harder for some students.
