Master 2nd Year Physics: 100+ MCQs for Chapter 14 & 15 (Free PDF Download)
Welcome, future engineers and doctors! If you are a 2nd Year (FSc Part 2) student, you already know that Physics is the subject that often determines your final merit. Specifically, the transition from Electrostatics to Electromagnetism (Chapter 14) and Electromagnetic Induction (Chapter 15) is where concepts get tricky.
These two chapters are the "backbone" of the 2nd Year Physics syllabus. Not only do they carry significant weight in the Punjab Board Annual Exams (approx. 15-18 marks), but they are also heavily tested in entry tests like MDCAT and ECAT.
To help you secure full marks in the objective section, EDUBoost has prepared a premium file containing 100+ Solved MCQs. These are not just random questions; they are selected from past 10-year papers and conceptual question banks.
Why Are These Chapters "High Risk"?
Students often lose marks in MCQs here because of confusion in direction rules and formulas. Here is what you need to master:
Chapter 14: Electromagnetism
This chapter deals with magnetic effects of electric current. Key confusing topics include:
- Right Hand Rules: Confusing the "Grip Rule" (for field direction) with the "Palm Rule" (for force direction).
- Force on a Charge: Remembering the formula F = qvB sinθ and knowing when the force is zero (parallel motion).
- Instruments: The conversion of a Galvanometer into an Ammeter (Shunt Resistance) vs. Voltmeter (Series Resistance).
Chapter 15: Electromagnetic Induction
Here, the focus shifts to generating current from magnetism. Focus on:
- Lenz's Law: Understanding that it is simply the "Law of Conservation of Energy" applied to circuits.
- Transformers: The inverse relationship between Current and Voltage in Step-up/Step-down transformers.
- Motional EMF: The formula ε = -vBL sinθ.
What is Inside This PDF File?
We have designed this PDF to be a complete revision tool. It includes:
| Feature | Benefit |
|---|---|
| 100+ MCQs | Covering every topic from Ampere's Law to AC Generators. |
| Conceptual Triggers | Questions that ask "Why" and "How", not just definitions. |
| Past Paper Repeats | Includes MCQs from Lahore, Gujranwala, and Multan Board papers (2018-2024). |
| Entry Test Prep | Harder questions marked for MDCAT/ECAT aspirants. |
Sample "Tricky" Concepts to Check
Before you download, can you answer these?
- Q: If an electron is moving parallel to a magnetic field, what is the magnetic force on it? (Ans: Zero, because angle is 0).
- Q: Does a step-up transformer increase power? (Ans: No! Power remains constant; it only increases voltage while decreasing current).

3 Tips to Solve Physics MCQs in Board Exams
- Check the Units First: Examiners love to trap students by giving values in 'cm' but requiring answers in 'meters', or giving 'Gauss' instead of 'Tesla'. Always convert to S.I units before calculating.
- Elimination Method: If you are unsure of an answer, eliminate the options that are dimensionally incorrect. For example, if the question asks for Flux, eliminate any option with units of Flux Density (Tesla).
- Time Management: You have roughly 20 minutes for 17 MCQs in the board exam. Do not spend more than 1 minute on a calculation-heavy MCQ. Mark it and come back later.
